Business
The Business department offers students a range of stimulating learning opportunities through a variety of courses at Key Stage 4 and 5. GCSE in Business is a qualification that is engaging and inspiring, and which reflects the demands of a truly modern and evolving business environment – a qualification that enables your students to develop as commercially minded and enterprising individuals and helps them to succeed in their chosen pathway.
Business at Key Stage 4
The Pearson Edexcel Level 2 GCSE (9–1) in Business.
This exciting course has been designed to prepare individuals for employment and/or career development opportunities. The course concentrates on the key business concepts, issues and skills involved in starting and running a small business. It provides a framework for students to explore core concepts through the lens of an entrepreneur setting up a business.
In addition, it examines how a business develops beyond the start-up phase. It focuses on the key business concepts, issues and decisions used to grow a business, with emphasis on aspects of marketing, operations, finance and human resources.
This qualification consists of two themes of study and are assessed through exams.
- Theme 1: Investigating small business
- Written examination: 90 minutes
- 50% of the qualification

- Theme 2: Building a business
- Written examination: 90 minutes
