More2Together Business Wear IncentivePosted on: 25/06/2021
As part of the Sixth Form Taster week, on 17th June we opened our doors to Year 11 students to choose from a selection of smart clothes and shoes. Business wear can be expensive and to ensure standards, Thomas More came together again to ensure no student went without. Staff donated clothes, shoes and money to buy items that could be useful for their next steps; be that college, university, an apprenticeship or a job.
Inspiration came from the H&M incentive to loan business suits to students for interviews at no cost to assist them on their future paths. Realising that the girls weren’t being catered for, Thomas More decided to run its own incentive to support all our potential sixth formers. Clothes had to be new or at least new without tags. We want our students to have the best items of clothing we could collect.
With the help of staff, we managed to raise a total of £140 to go towards brand new clothes. Holly Bishop, who organised and ran the incentive said, “It was lovely to be able to help these students feel and look professional; they understand the importance of a first impression. This shows that they are taking their studies and future careers seriously.”
Students were nervous at first but were soon searching the rails. The students realised that this would be a great step to dress correctly according to our sixth form dress code, helping relieve stress for their families to supply the right items.
Due to its success, we have decided to run this as a yearly collection. For further information, please contact Holly Bishop who can advise. Thank you again, Thomas More staff - your generosity knows no bounds.
