New Dedicated NSPCC helpline

Posted on: 01/04/2021

Many of you may have heard about the Sarah Everand case and the Testimonial web site for victims of sexual harassment and rape called “Everyone’s Invited”. These two events have sparked a review by the Government into looking into school’s procedures in supporting victims and examining procedures that we have in place. I believe we have rigorous procedures here at Thomas More reflected in our Safeguarding Policy and I am confident we take any allegation seriously and have external, as well as internal support for any student that requires it. These issues may affect you or people you know, as well as students and their families and it is important to seek advice and support if this is indeed the case.

Therefore, in response to the above, the NSPCC have set up a helpline which goes live today. The helpline will provide both children and adults who are victims of sexual abuse in schools with the appropriate support and advice. This includes how to contact the police and report crimes if they wish. The helpline will also provide support to parents and professionals too. This will go onto our web site and social media sites in order for all to access if needed.

Should you wish to speak to me about anything related to the above, then please come and see me in G1 or call me on the numbers below. Alternatively, there is a safeguarding email address safeguarding@tmore.org.uk, which is regularly checked throughout the holidays.

I do wish you all a very relaxing and restful Easter. Keep safe.
