PE

The Thomas More physical education department instils an attitude of enthusiasm and dedication in working towards excellent standards of sporting and academic achievement.
The department consists of 4 full time specialist physical education teachers and a swimming pool manager who teaches swimming across key stage 3. Teachers are extremely enthusiastic in ensuring all students have the opportunity to take part in sport and develop practically to their full potential.
A wide range of Extra Curricular activities are run by the staff, for all ability levels and age ranges, to aid pupils development, increase practical ability and provide opportunities for talented students to excel. (A full range of clubs and teams are available in the enrichment section).
The physical education curriculum aims to provide pathways for all student development. At KS 3 students will have the opportunity to take and pass a young leaders award, personal survival and life saving awards at various points of the year.
When progressing in to KS4 students have the benefit of physical education as a core subject. All students have the opportunity to gain accreditation through a number of different courses including; double, single and short course GCSE, sports leaders level 1 and BTEC sport.
The resources and facilities available to the students enhance the experience of PE allowing full development of social, personal and communicative skills throughout their years in the school.
