Geography

We believe that Geography helps to provoke and provide answers to questions about the natural and human world whilst following the national curriculum.

Students are encouraged to develop a broad understanding and balanced knowledge of the world, as well as their place in it. The carefully sequenced Geography curriculum at Thomas More Catholic School enables students to develop knowledge and skills that are transferable to other subject areas, including numeracy, literacy and oracy as well as promoting their cultural capital. By nature, Geography is an investigative subject, in which we seek to create learning opportunities which develop an understanding of concepts, knowledge and skills.

A key focus is to develop our students into self-regulated learners, particularly in the areas of applied geography (Field work and Revision). We seek to ignite in students a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people which will remain with them for the rest of their lives, equipping them well for lifelong learning and empowering them to become confident participants in modern society.
